I was at my wife’s extended family’s big Christmas dinner when her Uncle Allen, who is a very normal, well-adjusted man with two wonderful kids, shows me his new ring and asks, “Do you know what this is?” He was wearing a Green Lantern power ring. I nearly hyperventilated, I was laughing so hard. I wish I’d been wearing mine. Anyway, today’s little exchange with Birdie is based on that.
