You Gotta Have Pockets.
So if you were ever wondering why K-B and the Birdster always manage to have sweet gear on hand but don’t wear utility belts, it’s cuz they have pockets. I mean really, why else would you were underwear over your spandex? The tights ain’t got pockets. So you gotta make special short-shorts with pockets to wear! It makes you wonder. Do Superman’s ready-reddies* have pockets? Gotta keep that Fortress key made of star matter somewhere, right?
I also just really like the idea that the H.Q. has a department store style changing room. I was a changing room attendant at a Calvin Klein outlet when I was a teenager. So as I’ve noted before, 90% of Butterfly storylines are semi-autobiographical.
Let’s see, I drew a cool pic of Stephanie Brown AKA That Girl Who Was Robin For A While this week and added it to my website, and there’s a new article up over at Mainstream Art and a new triple-entry post over at Project: Rooftop. This week I’ve been working on pages for an upcoming comic called Stray for General Jinjur Comics. Been watching a lot of documentaries and educational stuff while I work this week. Deam am smarter now.

I will never understand the male obsession with underwear efficiency. Ah, well. I hope Knight Bat’s teddy bear comes in handy when chasing that ambulance.

Knowing you’re a fan of Doctor Who, there’s a very similar reference to where the Doctor keeps all his “stuff” in the 2006 Christmas special.
After producing a rather large control device seemingly from nowhere he’s challenged by sort-of-assistant Donna as to where he’d kept THAT about his person. He replies happily “Pockets… they’re bigger on the inside you know.”
And the teddy… sorry, the Knight-Teddy is fab!

I vaguely recall Quitely giving Supes pockets in All-Star Superman, but I might be making that up.
In any case, pockets are a good call. Who doesn’t like extra storage and a place to keep your hands warm?

And I think in the comic or maybe Superfriends, Superman stored some things in concealed pockets in his cape. Or maybe I just dreamed that.

Robb, you’re right, Superman used to keep his Clark Kent clothes squished into something the size and consistency of a paper handkerchief, but which used to unfold into beautifully dry cleaned suit, shirt, shoes and glasses. I always counted that as an extra super-power!
