THAT CAT POEM. I don't even HAVE a cat and it got me all foggy.
I always love seeing your comics every year, glad you're back :D
I'm going to try that cocktail right now :D
(by the way, you are drawing in such a tiny book! What is it?) |

I like the little book format! And you have a very lively, sketchy style. I enjoyed reading these. |

Thanks Vineris! I used to be much more methodical (i.e. slow) with these, but I finally got up the confidence to work quick and raw. They don't end up looking much like anything else I do, but I've come to like the style it gives me. I'm glad you concur:]
Yeah, Stef, that poem tossed me for a loop. Some sort of perfect combination of adorable and sad, which is a little odd to think about.
I really look forward to doing these every year, and it's cool recognizing so many artists from year to year, and seeing how they've changed, and what's gone on in their lives.
How'd you like the cocktail?
As far as the book goes, it's a little 3"x4" sketchbook I pick up at my local Hobby Lobby (usually keep them up front, near the registers, with the quote books and such.) It's by Pentalic, and goes by the stunningly original title of Modeskin. I actually really enjoy them, the paper doesn't let much bleed through and ink dries nice and quick. Plus, they're only a couple bucks. _________________ My Tumblr! http://mattknieling.tumblr.com/

these are great, i love the sorta scratchy aspect... i didn't work very fast this time around cuz i was on the subway so much and wound up drawing there, but it's interesting that HCD can help you develop a new kind of style...
nice gas mask, by the way. _________________ HCD 2014
