The first time I came across an hourly comic was from David Yoder ( http://www.davidyoderisawesome.com ). I followed the links on his site to this forum.

I did not, however, find any ground rules. I didn't know if I had to draw as it was happening, if I could go back and edit or what. So, I went by these 'rules': I would try and draw something as soon as it happened and I could only edit a page during the hour for that page. Also there'd only be one page per hour, so I had to make them count.

I'll let you read the comic and then I'll give my thoughts about it and the process:

Was that a comic? Or was it an illustrated story?

That's something I've kind of been struggling with since about 9AM of the comic. It became obvious that things were going to have to be somewhat text heavy to explain what was going on. Also considering the small format (I was drawing on 8.5 x 5.5 paper cut in half), the text had to be a bit large.

Doing a 60 Second Draw 'contest' over at Newsarama I think has been somewhat beneficial to capturing things as they happen. I look at the image of me digging through the 'independents' box at Silver Bullet and I really like that. I also like the image of me and Jonathan letting the balloons go.

Now from a story stand point, I feel I'd be run out of town by 'comic fans' for not being "accessible enough" (the new McCarthy-esque 'communist' claim.) Who is Terra? Was Jonathan graduating from high school or college? Where are my parents in the comic? I've learned it's tough to be 'observational' without being some kind of omnisicent narrator.

Anyways, it was fun. This morning, after a few hours of being awake, it felt weird to not be doing it. I don't think it's something I could do everyday, but I might save it for special events or unusually busy days.

Awesome. I'm really glad to see people still taking on the Hourly Comic challenge! Sounds like you followed the rules right.
