Butterfly, now known as Butterflyte, originally lost his wings when the InsideJoker nearly beat him to death with a crow-bar. During the years he spent without the use of his legs, he developed the Electro-Kinetic spinal column and harness.

Butterfly, the natural genius that he is, engineered the harness and neuro-jack system needed in order to use his new wings and regain the ability to walk. Now Butterflyte can walk again and controls his artificial wings at the speed of thought.
