Wish I'd known about this contest earlier! Two Halloweens ago, I put together a WW costume for my younger daughter (with suggestions & input from my older daughter & my mom).Play tiara that we glued a star to; made tin-foil bracelets and added a star to each; sewed silver star spangles onto an existing navy velour ice skating skirt; tore the sleeves off of a red shirt and sewed a gold-and-silver eagle (cut out of scrap fabric) onto the now sleeveless tunic and used the sleeves as boot tops (with existing red sparkly Mary Janes/Dorothy shoes), adding silvery reflective tape down the front to look more WWish. Lasso was some gold cord lashed to an existing silver (plastic) belt.view 1 view 2

I really like John’s Two-Face, mostly for the Lon Chaney make-up which should really be integral to Halloween, and it’s nice to see a more realistic take on a character who normally has perfect fifty-fifty scarring of some strange shade and a very patient seamstress, but keeping some of the uneven (is there a word for the deliberate avoidance of symmetry?) aspects (I counted three; the holster, the handkerchief and the glove… and I’m pretending one scuffed shoe). Though Mai and Ming’s costumes do seem closer to the central spirit of P.R.; nice shoes.

i’m totally bummed that batgirl didn’t win. look how much WORK went into that! the piping, the wings on the gloves, the shoes, the batarangs, the MASK…i am thoroughly impressed.

While all of these costumes are nice to look at (Stephen Strange!), I have to say that I would have picked John and Jennifer as First Place, because they trailblaze in terms of sheer imagination and wit far beyond any of the other contestants.

The concept of doing Two Face and Typhoid Mary together is, first of all, brilliant. Executing them in a film noir iteration only adds another layer on the delicious cake of win.

Whereas Supergirl seems to be just an oversized t-shirt, old tights, and old boots.

Pinstripes for the win!
