Wolverine may be the best there is at what he does, but he ain’t no fashion designer, bub! That’s where we come in. Project: Rooftop and online comics retailer DCBService.com have partnered together to present “Wolverine: Look Sharp,” your chance to take Weapon X in for some upgrades!
With Wolvie’s origin flick hitting theaters later this week, Old Man Logan is on the minds of comics-loving fans and the general public. Created nearly 30 years ago by Len Wein and John Romita Sr., Wolverine has put together a well-stocked superhero wardrobe since. He’s rocked his classic blue and yellow tights, his brown and orange variant, the Weapon X mission gear, the one-handed Age of Apocalypse attire, his Ultimate Universe duds, the New X-Men black and yellows, his new X-Force mission suit, the movie costumes, and of course, the naked VR training look, which not everyone can pull off.
Now it’s your turn. Can the Canucklehead turn heads? Let’s find out! Discount Comic Book Service (DCBS) has provided the following (astonishing) prizes:
Grand Prize – Wolverine Omnibus, Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, and Wolverine: Enemy of the State HC Vol 1 and 2
First Place – Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, and Wolverine: Enemy of the State HC Vol 1 and 2
Second Place – Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney
Along with our usual P:R Staff roundtable reviews, Wolverine: Weapon X’s creative team of writer Jason Aaron and artist Ron Garney will be joining in to guest judge the finalists!
Send in your Wolverine redesigns to projectrooftop@gmail.com, with the subject line: “Wolverine: Look Sharp.” Please include your full name, age, website, and mailing address. International winners may be responsible for shipment. All the usual P:R Guidelines apply.
All entries must be received by May 15th, 2009!

So many ideas, so little time….

/ April 27, 2009COOOLLLL!!!!
Alex Mitchell
/ April 27, 2009Awesome! I do have a question, though:
Unlike some of the other contests you guys have run, this seems particularly open-ended. Is this meant to be a redesign of Wolverine’s costume for the character as he is currently? Or are you expecting folks to hand in redesigns of some of his earlier incarnations? The only directive you seem to have issued is to make him look better than normal (granted, he’s had some terrible wardrobe choices in the past, so that’s a no-brainer), but is this really as open as it seems?
Chris Arrant
/ April 27, 2009Alex:
Yes, it’s as open as possible. Improve the Wolverine costume. Think of it as if you’ve just been assigned to the series, and have been asked to redesign the character’s costume, not the character. Try to create a BETTER costume than the one currently in use, not just a variant.

/ April 27, 2009Aw man, Wolverine is hard to draw. :D But a challenge for my first entry will be fun.
Alex Mitchell
/ April 28, 2009Thanks a lot, that makes sense!
Brad Hodges
/ April 28, 2009Hot Dog! Wolverine!
Peter Foglesong
/ April 28, 2009Should be cool – a lot of different ways this could go…
One thing I didn’t see covered in the quidelines – can we submit multiple entries? And if so, should be they in separate e-mails?
Chris Arrant
/ April 28, 2009While multiple entries aren’t banned, I’d recommend limiting it to the best entry you have.
NathanH
/ April 28, 2009Ron Garney is amazing, i loved his rum on Cap back in the day.
NathanH
/ April 28, 2009Sorry, loved his RUN on Cap, can’t vouch for his rum

/ May 8, 2009Should be some great art coming out for this one. While I enjoy Wolverine as a character, I think he has simply been played out by Marvel over the years; hopefully you guys will be doing something new!
xaoi
/ May 13, 2009If I e-mail it through on the 15th does it still qualify. I had to start over from scratch because my daughter spilled paint all over it before I got a chance to scan it.
Michael

/ May 14, 2009So I didn’t notice that the new contest opened until about… 20 hours ago. Luckily I was able to put together an entry pretty quickly and I just sent it in.
Feel free to take a look.

/ May 14, 2009Do they need to be in by midnight the 14th or midnight the 15th?

/ May 14, 2009What time is the contest deadline? two hours from now, five hours from now, or end of day on the 15th?

Check out my submission here

/ May 16, 2009Kinda miss the good old days when ppl submitted random ideas and pictures because they felt moved or had a great idea, instead of forcing it by giving a prize.
Arthur
/ May 17, 2009This is the first time I’m participating to one of rooftop’s contests. Can’t wait to see the results ^^
JP Bantigue
/ May 17, 2009Too bad I missed this one. I had a “sharp” idea in my head. I’ll probably still do it anyway.
Calvin
/ May 18, 2009You guys should really do a green lantern contest.
Andrew Runion
/ May 19, 2009I was so sad to not have enough time to enter this one, but I can’t wait to see what everyone else does.
Pahito
/ May 19, 2009When will the winners?

/ May 21, 2009Didn’t have enough time to enter this one, but I am still pretty stoked to see what everyone has come with. Calvin had a good idea earlier about doing Green Lantern. That would be fun. I thought that since the Sci Fi channel was bringing back the Phantom as a TV show, that redoing his costume would be a cool contest. Let me know what you all think. Good luck to all of you who entered.
Scadilla
/ May 22, 2009Noooooo I missed another deadline.
captain trips
/ May 29, 2009i second green lantern contest, keep up the great redesigns internet!
Drew Green
/ May 30, 2009I didn’t enter this one like I had entered the Batman 2.0 challenge, but I still can’t wait to see the results! I bet there are going to be some really cool redesigns. Good luck, everyone. ;D
Felix Narada
/ June 1, 2009All the entries are in, so I can probably check back in about 6 months to see who the winner is, right?
scorpio
/ June 2, 2009After this Wolvie contest is over please do another Marvel character redesign contest. There are seven DC-related galleries and Wolvie will make two DC galleries. Remaking independent characters isn’t quite as fun because they’re newer and generally more attributable to one creator. Since I don’t like Alex Ross’ Captain America redesign he did for Bucky, I’d love to redesign Cap. Or Thor or Spidey or Doc Strange. I’ll keep saying Dr. Strange every month until it happens, by the way. But it’s your site, so you can of course ignore me and do what you will.
scorpio
/ June 2, 2009Oh, and lest anyone point out that I said “2 DC galleries,” yes, I realize that I meant to say, “2 Marvel galleries.” ‘Nuff Said.
keerruhn
/ June 4, 2009Do we really need a Green Lantern contest? With the myriad of Green Lantern costumes they’ll never need a redesign, its not like Batman and Wolverine who have iconic costumes.
Daniel Heard
/ June 6, 2009No matter how great our designs, can they match the beauty of these Wolverine Nikes.
My friends I truly doubt it.
YURI
/ June 9, 2009Hi! I love this site and the contests here showed! Scorpio, please, give to us, on your personal web-site, your personal versions of Cap, Thor, Spidey e Doc Strange!!! Please, give us more Marvel character redesigned here! However, any chance to see a Green Lantern contest?!
Armando
/ June 10, 2009Had a sweet idea for this contest. But not enough time to make it. Twas part Old Man Logan, part The Comedian, and part X-Force costumed Wolverine. A good combination of earthy tones and materials, military-eqsue elements, and fear-inspiring designs. One day I might have the time to sketch it up…
Mike
/ June 12, 2009I will second that comment left by Scorpio, I too would love to take a crack at Spidey or Cap! I’m not sure Doc Strange is Iconic enough for a revamp though… I never really liked the non-super hero characters in Marvel (I.E. Scorcerer’s and Aliens) except Skaar… He’s pretty kick-a$$.
Now DC however does have a killer supernatural line-up (i.e. Darksied and Shin Tzu)
Del hewitt
/ June 15, 2009So when will we see the results I’m dieing to see everyone work!
Mike
/ June 16, 2009So when will we see the entries? I can’t wait to see what every one has entered
