Whitechapel’s REMAKE/REMODEL Superman

Warren Ellis just threw down an awesome challenge over at Whitechapel. Check it out:

You are an artist/designer. You have to put together the cover for a comic called SUPERMAN. It is issue 1 of this book.

You have been told that Superman is a man who dresses predominantly in a shade of blue, and wears a red S symbol. You know nothing else about the character.

The cover must include a logo and the text THE COMPLETE STORY OF THE DARING EXPLOITS OF THE ONE AND ONLY SUPERMAN.

And that’s it.

It’s up to you what kind of company you’re at. What kind of comics you make. How you translate that description of Superman. What era you’re in. Who you are, even. Go nuts with it.

You have one week. Go.

How cool is that? For anyone who doesn’t know, REMAKE/REMODEL is a regular challenge over at Whitechapel, and is similar in awesomeness to P:R. We tackled Superman redesigns here a while back, but the specific guidelines for this challenge are so cool and different, I had to make sure all our readers knew about it. I can’t wait to see the results.

  1. I was really excited to put something together for this, sadly I always have trouble with the Whitechapel login– I sign up, login, post something, but when I’m next prompted to login it doesn’t allow me to. I try to change my password and it tells me I’m not registered. This has happened twice in the past, and I still can’t figure out what’s wrong… sigh.
Regardless, here is my Superman cover: http://genesischant.deviantart.com/art/Whitechapel-Superman-Challenge-156096046
