What a great idea for a column! I actually would’ve really liked it if the cross itself were white instead of pinkish, but then it would be white cross wouldn’t it? Also, I wonder what it would look like if you kept the cross on he head?

Great costume- love the retrofit concept and I LOVE the design. Given the striking similarity, I call to your attention to FEARLESS FLINT another public domain hero- this one published by Eastern Color Printing. He has a very similar costume/color scheme, for whatever that’s worth. Adam: Now THIS is interesting! Great idea for a thread and a masterful reboot of an relatively bland character. Iconic, Dark and instantly Relevent. Fives indeed good sirs. I also appreciate the creative input you guys put in and I cant wait to see more of these Retrofixes. I would love to see what the regulars like Chris, Jemma and the Joels could come up with.

I like the symbolism (literal and figurative) of leaving the cross shape exposed on his chest. But I keep thinking to myself “If the Red Cross encounters ONE sniper in the Theater of War, this book is going to have a really short run.”

I almost wonder if it wouldn’t be better to fill in the cross on his chest and make his weakness a character default instead?

Red Cross is a healer, but yet he kills. What happens when he starts to ENJOY killing? I think that struggle of man vs. himself would make the character more interesting.

After all, Iron Man is covered head-to-toe in impervious armor. But it’s his inner demons (alcoholism, living in the future and not the present) that make him the hero we root for.
