Note: After visiting the offices of DC Comics a few years ago, cartoonist Renae De Liz was inspired to revisit the under-rated 80s heroine Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld in her free time. Although DC has yet to take notice (someone want to forward this to Dan Didio?), De Liz has done number of cover illustrations and even some interior pages for a eye-catching revamp of the book. – Chris A.

/ December 7, 2011this seems like it would go over well with the right kind of story!

/ December 7, 2011Wow! This would make me give Amethyst a try, and I only ever bought the first issue of the original.

/ December 7, 2011Why send it to Didio? The man wouldn’t now a good idea if it walked up to him and slapped him in the face. As for the art, it looks fantastic, and I’d happily buy Amethyst if drawn like this.

/ December 7, 2011Really impressive artwork.

/ December 7, 2011Renae’s pencils are insanely sick. I love the movement in the last picture – and the middle panel is just seriously cool.

/ December 9, 2011I know a few people suggested Amethyst as an ideal title for the DC52. With art this good a new Amethyst book would be incredible. Great redesign without throwing away the original concept. Brilliant work!

/ December 9, 2011Yeah, this is awesome. I love the art, and the modernized Amethyst!

/ December 13, 2011These are fantastic! I absolutely love Amethyst. I have all of her appearances, and I would love if DC decided to bring Amethyst back for real (not like that one useless horrible appearance in Flashpoint). And this is fantastic artwork. I’d buy this book every month.

/ January 15, 2012Oh man. I would buy this comic in a heartbeat, which is saying something because I actually own all of the original run. The styling on these is phenomenal and the pencil work is nothing short of blood beautiful. Amazing job.
