Note: After the bountiful crop of Batman redesigns in last week’s Fan-Art Friday, you’d think that well would be thoroughly explored. But in comes artist Chito Arellano. Arellano has given Batman Beyond‘s Terry McGinnis a more refined look like something you’d see in Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come work. As you can see, sometimes redesigning a character isn’t about re-doing everything, but merely fine-tuning and accentuating what’s already there. – Chris A.

/ October 10, 2012Looks good, and would actually work as a basic design for a live action version of the suit. I like how the mouth piece on the mask was changed. The Larger Bat symbol that almost leads into the wings is a great touch. An Homage to nightwing almost which Terry had more in common with than Bruce.

/ October 10, 2012Personally I think the real Batman Beyond costumed is more refined and fine-tuned than this. But this is not bad, I like it.

/ October 10, 2012I feel like continuing the chest symbol onto the shoulders is a misstep, but solid work otherwise. While I love the open mouth on the Timm design, I never really understood how it actually worked, so the more helmeted approach is a nice touch.

/ October 10, 2012Love it. The one thing I never got about the “Beyond” suit was how his face was visible like it was. Was he wearing blackface?

/ October 10, 2012I love how the “eyes” are actually a visor. That’s a very Metal Hero way of approaching it. I also think the top lines making his top look like coattails is nifty. It’s all very clean and nice. Kudos

/ October 10, 2012I like how the mask veers towards Spider-man territory. Really fits with Batman Beyond being kind of a Batman/Spider-Man hybrid.

/ October 11, 2012Fantastic… ditto on the comments about the open-mouth design of the traditional version. That version is a cool design but I think the “helmeted” idea makes a lot more sense to me, particularly for Batman Beyond.

/ October 11, 2012Well, this looks lika a suit that could be built today. And that ruins it for me. The entire idea of the Beyond-suit was that its features escaped comprehension by current standards. We were kept puzzling how the wings disappeared, how the artificial face could ever work, and that made it futuristic. This design is a logical prototype, but not Terry’s suit.
