Note: Marvel’s Wizard was one of the first villains I distinctly remember reading when I was a child, but as I grew up I realized that his costume design has done much to hold him back from becoming a bigger player than he is. But superstar artist Ed McGuinness recently re-designed the villain for Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and I can’t help but enjoy it. Ed’s re-envisioned the conniving Bentley Wittman as one-part cybernetic shaman and one-part showman, pencil-thin mustache included.. – Chris A.

/ January 30, 2013Looks like a Megaman villain. I think it ‘s pretty cool.

/ January 30, 2013My one concern is it lacks menace. But to be fair the Wizard has never pulled off menace overly well.

I don’t know, if you look closely he’s got a menacing mustache. I think it fits well with the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon too.

/ January 31, 2013Maybe it stems from my own dislike for the series, but I really have nothing bad or good to say about this. The technomage thing kind of intrigues me, but beyond that this is just very much… there

/ January 31, 2013This is totally unrelated to the topic, but god I hate the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon. It’s like it’s written with as minimal effort as possible,it almost completely loses the essence of the character and his world.Granted character designs like this are solid, but what good are great character designs with a horrible story. There was a Spiderman cartoon in the 80s before the amazing friends show.It pitted Spidey against all types of random villans not even in the comic, but Spidey still felt like Spidey !

/ January 31, 2013It’s a glorious design. Hearkens back nicely to the original costume and retaining the theme while definitely being its own design.
Gotta say, I like a traditional, old school moustache-twirling baddie, and the idea of the ‘showman’ really hearkens back to his initial ‘Strange Tales’ appearance, so yay!

/ February 1, 2013I find the show to be pretty unwatchable, and every time I see it, I weep a little on the inside for the loss of “Spectacular Spider-Man.” But this is the best that the Wizard has ever looked, in my humble opinion.
