P:R Approved: Alex Ross’ The Confessor!

Note: There’s more than one dark caped crusader in comics, but it’s hard to escape from the long shadow of DC’s Batman. But Alex Ross ddi just that when he came up with the design for the vampire vigilante the Confessor for Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson’s Astro City. We recently discovered this piece of art by Ross, the first fully rendered version of the Confessor ever done — and it shows off the symbology and cut of the costume in a greatly succinct way. – Chris A.

  1. Astro City was awesome and I truely miss it. The Confessor story and the reveal on what he really was were fantastic and still remain one of my favorite stories. And of course you can’t go wrong with Alex Ross to begin with.

  2. I swear that was in an old issue of Wizard or Heroes Illustrated, because that particular piece looks familiar.
I never got into the Astro City books, but the designs of the characters were great.

  3. ^ Astro City is back btw

Also this is a great design and distinct enough to not be a generic Bat-Man rip off
