  1. I love this. Not just the outfit redesigns, which try to convey each character’s personality and adopt masks a lot more (two things I like), but also the team: I’ve always been a fan of including mutates (She-Hulk, Spider-man) alongside the mutants. I only have one question: is the guy on the far right next to Spider-man, Ant-Man or somebody else?

  2. looks like a good tweaking of the Morrison era uniforms. Spider-man looks cool actually, but I’m not sure about Storm.

  3. A fun mix of some of Marvel’s finest – even it it doesn’t make much sense. Love Shulkie in there! Design wise I’m not blown away by any of these as it’s pretty standard X stuff.

Why on earth would Nightcrawler or She-Hulk wear a mask?

  4. It’s always nice to see the X-Statix characters, but that’s canceled out by throwing in a few random non-mutants.

As far as design goes, belt loops and buccaneer boots with contrast lining seem to be the big ideas here, and aren’t all that compelling.

  5. Thomas, that’s Mister Sensitive/The Orphan, created by Mike Allred and Peter Milligan for their fairly awesome X-Statix series.

  6. Nice throwback, but I’m not digging the masks, and Storm doesn’t look one-tenth as awesome as she should. That old-style mask makes her look like a granny instead of an awesome albino weather goddess.

  7. Tomas-the dude next to Spider-Man is Mr Sensitive.

Jay- who doesn’t like a good mask? maybe they wan’t to see how the other side lives

Daniel- She-Hulk wasn’t a member, as for as i know, but a good argument can be made for letting her and Spider-Man in to the group. They weren’t born with powers, but their DNA has been changed by then. And since most mutant powers don’t kick in til puberty, I don’t think they should begrudged admittance, because they weren’t born with powers.

    Alex-Storm is NOT albino

  9. Nice inclusion of X-Statix members; it’s been a while since I’ve seen Mr Sensitive or Venus Dee Milo around (even if I did think that Sensitive was Ant Man at first). I like the stripes on Wolverine’s arms, but I’m not sure how’d they work; are they hair? birth marks? tattoos? Having She Hulk and Nightcrawler in masks seems redundant to me. I’m also not sure about Storm’s mask; it looks a bit like horn-rimmed glasses, and makes her look like an old lady.

  10. Been loving this for a bit at DA, I see it as a really cool First Class rework thru the noggin of Thomas Perkins. he’s got some great action shots of them fighting Skrulls at DA.

  11. @ Kai : Sorry but that doesn’t cut it for me. Based on your explanation nearly everyone in the Marvel Universe would qualify as an X-Men including characters like the Hulk, Fantastic Four, Luke Cage, Wonder Man and even Captain friggin America.

  12. Jim Gitman: Thomas, that’s Mister Sensitive/The Orphan, created by Mike Allred and Peter Milligan for their fairly awesome X-Statix series.

Thanks :) I did think the purple antennae looked familiar (never read any X-Statix but I know of the characters).

  13. I actually kinda liked the mask on Storm until people said it made her look like a granny. Now that’s all I see. I also don’t understand why Nightcrawler and She-Hulk would bother wearing masks, but I love how Spidey’s toes are exposed. I assume the stripes on Wolverine’s arms are just paint, almost like war paint, just not on his face. I don’t really see a problem with non-mutants being a part of the team. The way I see it, they are just other heroes siding with them to battle for mutant rights. You don’t have to be the same as someone else or a group of people to fight with them for equality.

  14. Isn’t it time to bring those X-Statix characters back? This drawing certainly leads me to think that it would work, if the approach is idiosyncratic enough.

  15. Wolverine’s claw stripe arm tattoos are BRILLIANT. Love the exposed fingers and toes on Spider-Man. It’s always been something I’ve thought about in terms of increasing his adhesive properties with less material between him and the wall. Love the simplicity of Colossus and Cyclops too. All in all, pretty great.

  16. I really like the idea of Wolverine’s stripes being made out of unshaved parts of his hair. Haha.

FredI like the stripes on Wolverine’s arms, but I’m not sure how’d they work; are they hair? birth marks? tattoos?

  17. Wouldn’t Wolverine’s healing factor “push out” the ink of a tattoo? Thats an incredible idea though…I always thought he was too bad ass NOT to have tattoos…but now I’m starting to see why it wouldn’t work.

  18. @Oliver, true enough, but I like the notion of shaking things up. The X Books have always been my favorites, but they exist in too much of a bubble.

  19. I was trying to figure out what this reminded me if and now I got if that show ahhhh real monsters this kinda had that feel , I could see this being animated by that team.

  20. I would pay good money to see Spidey kicking it with those moody mutants. I mean, they’d kick him out in, like, a week BUT WHAT A WEEK.
