1. To submit artwork to Project: Rooftop, simply email your image in jpg, png, or gif format to projectrooftop@gmail.com. Be aware, all images will be resized to fit our homepage (427 pixels wide).
2. Include your name and website, and feel free to include your thoughts on your design if you want, but it will be up to the reviewer whether or not to include your text in their review.
3. Keep in mind, the task is not to re-imagine the characters, but to revise their costuming. Think of it as if you’ve just been assigned to the series, and have been asked to redesign the character’s costume, not the character. Try to create a BETTER costume than the one currently in use, not just a variant.
4. Be sure to include enough visual information in your drawing that another artist could draw your costume without having to invent much of it themselves. Generally, a full-body frontal shot is the most easily accepted, but feel free to include multiple shots in one image.
5. Do not submit artwork that is not your own, or images that are largely ’swipes’ of more famous artist’s works. These will be rejected immediately.
6. Submitted art goes into a ‘pool’ where editors and reviewers can choose designs they like, write a short review, and submit them to be published on the site. Not all submissions will be published, only those selected by the reviewers.
7. We recommend not trying to redesign Superman.
8. If you have to put the character’s name in the image, you haven’t done your job. So don’t even bother with that.
9. If you have any questions, feel free to email the editors at the address above. We’re more than happy to help. :)
