P:R Approved: Karl Heitmueller’s Superman Comic Strip For BACK ISSUE Magazine!

Note: Project: Rooftop is about super-hero costume design appreciation, both with redesigns and respecting what’s gone on before. Artist Karl Heitmueller recently did a comic strip for Back Issue Magazine about the evolution of Superman’s costume in the wake of DC’s New 52. First Look: Russell Crowe as Jor-El in “Man of Steel”

Note: Another week, another movie leak of a character and a costume: this time it’s Russell Crowe in the production of the Superman reboot Man of Steel. As many looks as Superman has had over the years, I think his father Jor-El has had a few more given his infrequent but substantial appearances in the Superman mythos. Well, Crowe certainly looks regal enough, but it really gets your mind wondering what Krypton’s styles are going to be like in this movie.  – Chris A.

P:R Redesign: David Williams’s Superman as the Kryptonian

Note: Superman is one of the hardest costumes to change — just ask DC. Artist David Williams takes up that challenge with this design, which he calls ‘The Kryptonian.’ I love the lines with the design, and he even kept the spit-curl! – Chris A.
