Contest Announcement: Wolverine: Look Sharp

Wolverine may be the best there is at what he does, but he ain’t no fashion designer, bub! That’s where we come in. Project: Rooftop and online comics retailer DCBService.com have partnered together to present “Wolverine: Look Sharp,” your chance to take Weapon X in for some upgrades!

With Wolvie’s origin flick hitting theaters later this week, Old Man Logan is on the minds of comics-loving fans and the general public. Created nearly 30 years ago by Len Wein and John Romita Sr., Wolverine has put together a well-stocked superhero wardrobe since. He’s rocked his classic blue and yellow tights, his brown and orange variant, the Weapon X mission gear, the one-handed Age of Apocalypse attire, his Ultimate Universe duds, the New X-Men black and yellows, his new X-Force mission suit, the movie costumes, and of course, the naked VR training look, which not everyone can pull off.

Now it’s your turn. Can the Canucklehead turn heads? Let’s find out! Discount Comic Book Service (DCBS) has provided the following (astonishing) prizes:

Grand Prize – Wolverine Omnibus, Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, and Wolverine: Enemy of the State HC Vol 1 and 2

First Place – Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, and Wolverine: Enemy of the State HC Vol 1 and 2

Second Place – Wolverine: Weapon X #1 Coipel Variant signed by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney

Along with our usual P:R Staff roundtable reviews, Wolverine: Weapon X’s creative team of writer Jason Aaron and artist Ron Garney will be joining in to guest judge the finalists!

Send in your Wolverine redesigns to projectrooftop@gmail.com, with the subject line: “Wolverine: Look Sharp.” Please include your full name, age, website, and mailing address. International winners may be responsible for shipment. All the usual P:R Guidelines apply.

All entries must be received by May 15th, 2009!

  1. Screw doing Green Lantern or Doctor Strange! Lets do Captain Planet!

Want to challenge people, make them make THAT guy interesting looking. (And i don’t mean interesting as in “green mullet and pale blue skin”=D)

  2. You know, the lead-time on these contests is getting pretty absurd. Is there any way to speed it up in the future? Maybe reduce the number of judges or start having smaller submission windows?

Then again, I’m sure you guys all know what you’re doing and what you want to do with PR. It’s definitely not my place to try to tell you how to run things.

It’s just that, as a casual reader, I tend to forget about PR for months at a time, only to be disappointed when I come back and literally haven’t missed a post.

  3. I have to agree with Stig. It’s approaching 2 months since the contest ended. The contests and ideas are great, but the waiting saps all the interest away.

  4. ” I tend to forget about PR for months at a time, only to be disappointed when I come back and literally haven’t missed a post. ”

    Amen

  5. Good stuffs are worth the wait. I am cool with it. Go PR go~ Just don’t disappear like Battlechasers… .. . sob… .. .

  6. I second Stig’s comment. Even if you guys are swamped by the response, a simple and minimal update saying “We have ### entries, and we’re swamped” would be helpful to your viewing public.

  7. Wow, I came back here after a month and still no new info, I’m thinking about removing this website from my “favorites” list….

  8. Seconding Stig.

I love what you folks are doing here, but I’ve come back to check P:R at least twice a week since end of May and the lack of any updates whatsoever is kinda frustrating.

Were there not enough submissions? Are Ron Garney / Jason Aaron too busy with their comics work to sit down and review the submissions? Are the P:R Staff too busy with RL happenings to do the same?

I don’t know, because no one in a position to say something is saying anything. It reeks of apathy, frankly. And that gives me less of a reason to come back.

    Cheers.

  9. If you guys need help, I’d be happy to do whatever you need help with get this contest moving along. It did end almost two months ago.

    Just sayin’.

  10. Entries were due by the 15th May, is there a problem in the judging? is the competition stil on?

Just itching to see the entries.
have been for all past competitions.

an update as to what is going on would be appreciated.

  11. I totally agree with Stig up there.

I’m not even sure if you’re still there because there aren’t even any updates to let us know what sort of progress is happening.

  12. Hello?…
    anyone there?

every tome i check your site and find no further updates i die a little inside
c’mon guys you are killing me here

  13. Hello, is there any chance of giving us a rough indication as to when the results will be posted? Just an estimate would be appreciated. Thanks.

  14. I agree with Stig, i’ve been waiting for the Wolverine results for it seems eternity now, I wanna see what my fellow artists came up with!!

  15. glad to finaly see some movement on this contest.
sorry if you feel you have been in any way unfairly persicuted by our desire to see some results

I for one appreciate the level of detail that you have always put into your assesments and uinderstand that this takes time.

i do however also feel that a quick note to say that this ones taking a while is not unreasonable
and would certainly have reduced the number of queries heck even not hiding the comments would have reduced the number of them.

love the site and eagerly await the results, A Fan.
