Career Day: Mahmud Asrar’s Steampunk Supergirl!

Note: Fresh onto his new gig drawing Supergirl for DC’s New 52, Mahmud Asrar is already putting the Kryptonian girl into a variety of inventive poses. Check out this commission he did recently for a fan. – Chris A.

Sort of a psychotic collision of “steampunk,” fetish, the Eighties… and then that scarf / sash thing, which looks like it’s both wrapped around her neck and tied into a bow at her waist, is something all its own. I don’t know if I like this or hate, mostly I’m confused by it, but there’s no denying Asrar has stones.

  3. Woah, she´s f***** awesome!

  5. only things missing are two frosty mugs of beer…

  6. The details are killer on this one. See through mesh in the insignia = brilliant. LOVE IT!

Oooh, I love the see-through mesh around the “S” too! It’s something that would never work for any other incarnation of Supergirl, but it looks wonderful on this version. I know it’s not a part of the costume, but I love the background as well. It’s so simple, but it adds so much to the picture.

  8. This is amazing. I’m imagining a Gotham by Gaslight crossover in my head!
